Dr. Hudgins graduated from Appalachian State University in 1989 earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology. In 1993, he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston, College of Optometry. Dr. Hudgins completed an externship in primary eye care at the Womack Army Medical Center General Optometric Clinic. He also completed two tertiary externships at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center concentrating in Corneal and Anterior Segment Pathology and Neurological Ocular Disorders. Dr. Hudgins performs all aspects of primary and secondary eye care, including comprehensive examinations of adults and children, treatment of eye injuries and diseases, fitting of contact lenses and spectacles. In addition, Dr. Hudgins has a dedicated focus in the management and treatment of dry eye disease.
Dr. Hudgins has practiced as an independent family optometrist since 1993. In conjunction to his private practice, he also practiced for 14 years at the Aesthetic Facial & Ocular Plastic Surgery Center PA, located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Dr. Hudgins was an assistant to the Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon performing pre-operative consultation and evaluation and post-operative evaluation and management of oculofacial plastic surgery.
